Troop 1310 Survives Zombiepocolypse

In early November 2024, BSA Troop 1310 attended the annual Central Illinois Fall Camporee at Rhodes France Scout Reservation. This year’s theme was Survival Quest: “Scouts vs. Zombies.”

The weather was a little chilly (they missed the Polar Bear Patch by a few degrees Friday night), but Troop 1310 survived AND managed to cure several infected scouts.

A scout is brave and helpful to the undead.

The weekend was filled with STEM activities, escape room challenges, and various competitions that promoted teamwork, resourcefulness, and leadership. To survive the zombie invasion, scouts successfully threw tomahawks to cut a rope to release the vital anti-zombie antidote, identified different knots, and made emergency whistles from natural materials. There was also a Gaga Ball Pit competition, a scout favorite.

After all undead were saved, a Zombie costume party was held Saturday evening. A tag-along Cub scout from Chatham Pack 48 won the Award for Best Costume.
